How To Get Over Those Post-Vacation Blues

How To Get Over Those Post-Vacation Blues

Coming down from the high of a vacation can be depressing, but Michael "Dr. Woody" Woodward, author of The YOU Plan, has some tips for how to address that.

In a conversation with HuffPost Live on Friday, the author advised vacationers to plan several little "mini vacations" rather than "one big one at the end of each year or in the middle of the year."

"Set small things up to look forward to," he explained. "Some fun activities to pull yourself out of that work mentality, [to] invigorate you, get you excited and give you a chance to get that physical stress out."

Capitalizing on the joys of your recent trip can also help quell the post-vacation blues, he added.

"Do a little debrief. Sit down -- spouse and kids -- and talk about your trip," Woodward suggested. "Talk about what fun it was, the things you learned and got out of it."

"[And] take a little memento with you, as a reminder on your desk," he continued. "Something to remind you when you feel stressed."
