Hudsonville High School Recreates Grant Hill-Christian Laettner Play To Force OT (VIDEO)

Hill-Laettner Play Recreated To Force OT

With March Madness rapidly approaching, a high school in Michigan nearly recreated one of the most memorable plays in NCAA Tournament history in a MHSAA Class A Regional Semifinal.

Down by two with 1.5 seconds left against Forest Hills Northern, Hudsonville High had to inbound the ball from under its own basket and nearly recreated the famous Grant Hill-to-Christian Laettner play from Duke's 1992 NCAA Regional final win over Kentucky.

Blake Hibbits launched a deep pass to teammate Cody Stuive a few feet inside the free throw line. Stuive initially bobbled the pass but quickly recovered it, turned and nailed a game-tying shot at the buzzer. Hudsonville went on to win 64-60 in overtime, per CBS Detroit.

"My Dad and I are huge Duke fans," Hibbitts told Fox 17. “So last night when I got back home, my dad brought that up and I thought it was just like it."

Take a look at the Hill-Laettner play to see how similar Hudsonville's miracle buzzer-beater was.
