Ian Ziering On The Shocking Success Of 'Sharknado'

While "Beverly Hills, 90210" fans will always remember him as Steve Sanders, a new generation of viewers have now been introduced to Ian Ziering as the shark-slaying actor from "Sharknado." The campy Syfy thriller became one of the most buzzed-about movies of 2013 -- and no one was as surprised as Ziering.

"I was pretty shocked by the response," Ziering says in the above clip from "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" "Every social media outlet blew up -- Facebook, Twitter. My phone was beeping, buzzing and blinging its way into oblivion. And it's been like that since."

Though '90210' was a hit in the '90s, Ziering says he struggled to find work after the series came to an end. It was after a stint as the host of the Chippendales show in Las Vegas that Ziering landed the role in "Sharknado," and the success was instant.

"It all seemed to come together," he says. "Call it lightning in a bottle. I'm shocked, amazed and appreciative of all of this, because it's amazing.
