Initiative 40 Would Be More Liberal Than 'Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol' Proposal

A much more liberal proposal than the "Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol" will be heading to the state title board today to ask for permission to start gathering signatures to make cannabis legal.

Pot activists who are supporting Initiative 40 say that the first proposal is too strict, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Initiative 40 would set neither age limits nor possession limits to the amount of marijuana a person could have, and would not tax the drug.

Just last week 23 letters went out to medical marijuana dispensaries across the state within 1,000 feet of schools threatening seizure if they're not closed by next month. The letters were indicative of a federal crackdown on the booming dispensaries, even though a Public Policy Poll shows that approximately 49 percent of Coloradans think that marijuana should be legalized.

The "Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol" measure is still pending its inclusion on the ballots.
