The key to the benefits are at the heart of the social capital theory, a concept that dictates how relationships can generate tangible and intangible benefits in short or long terms. In short, being friends with white people could increase access to opportunities including employment and wealth.

And although the politics of interracial friendships could sometimes be challenging, considering the already large, and widening racial wealth gap, integrating can provide outlets to minorities that they did not know existed prior.
