Authorities in Missouri are searching for a 47-year-old man who allegedly kept his girlfriend locked in a box for four months inside the house they shared.
James B. Horn Jr., of Sedalia, a city located roughly 90 miles southeast of Kansas City, has been on the run since Thursday, according to police.
The manhunt for Horn began after officers received a 911 call from an unidentified female who told them she had just escaped a Sedalia residence where her boyfriend had allegedly been holding her captive since January.
"When officers contacted the victim, she told them the suspect routinely locked her in a wooden box inside the residence where they lived," a spokesperson for the Sedalia Police Department told The Huffington Post on Friday.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, and upon executing it, they allegedly found a large wooden box that was "consistent" with a description the victim had provided police.
"It did appear to be constructed for the purpose of concealing a person," the spokesperson said.
The wooden box and other items, a list of which authorities have yet to release, were collected from the house as evidence.
Authorities have yet to locate Horn. According to Kansas City's KSHB News, a vehicle he was driving was found abandoned on the outskirts of Sedalia.
No further details are available at this time.
Horn is described as a brown-haired white male, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. Authorities said he should be considered dangerous.
