When Mavericks, the famous big wave surf break in California, begins pumping 20 to 25 foot waves, surfers who dare challenge the wave can expect some nerve-racking intensity.

Welp, as the clip below shows, Australian big wave rider Jamie Mitchell got what was promised.

Watch as Mitchell drops into the massive wave, barely dodges the flying stand up paddle board from a surfer who wipes out next to him, and somehow emerges from the violent whitewash untouched.

We had to watch it twice to believe it.
