Jasmine Fiore's Ex-Boyfriend 'Happy' Ryan Jenkins Killed Himself, Mom's Reaction Mixed (VIDEO)

Jasmine Fiore's Ex-Boyfriend 'Happy' Ryan Jenkins Killed Himself, Mom's Reaction Mixed (VIDEO)

The mother of slain model Jasmine Fiore visited the Today Show Monday, a day after the remains of suspected killer Ryan Jenkins were discovered in a British Columbia motel room. Lisa Lapore discussed her reaction to the news that her son-in-law apparently hanged himself.

"It's a mixed reaction," she told Ann Curry. "It brings some closure to what's been going on... We still have a long process of closure."

Also on hand was Fiore's ex-boyfriend, Robert Hasman, who did not mince words. "I'm happy Ryan killed himself," he said. Hasman said he received a text from Fiore just two days before she was killed on August 15, when she was on her way to visit him in Las Vegas. There has been speculation that Jenkins' jealousy over Fiore's ex-boyfriends turned him into a murderer.

Perhaps still in shock, Lapore was remarkably collected in talking about her daughter's relationship with a man who allegedly mutilated her body so badly she had to be identified by her breast implants. "All of the men in her life have been incredibly great, loving, good men," she said. "I supported her when she broke up with him. They had a rocky relationship...and I encouraged her in her separation. That's all you can do. She was 28."

She expressed some regret that Jenkins can't be formally brought to justice. "I think no one will ever know that this man was a professional con man," she said. "He targeted women, I believe. He wanted to be something that he wasn't. He wanted to be and have what Jasmine had."
