Jeff Simmermon: 'And I Am Not Lying' Comes To The Black Cat On Nov. 2

Storyteller Jeff Simmermon Promises 'Tits And Fire' At Black Cat

WASHINGTON -- Former D.C. resident Jeff Simmermon's storytelling-and-burlesque show "And I Am Not Lying" is coming to the Black Cat Backstage on Nov. 2 -- it's the first staging of "And I Am Not Lying" outside of New York.

You may know Simmermon the storyteller from his stints on "This American Life" and The Moth. Or, if you've been in D.C. a while, you might know him as the guy who in 2008 got into a fight with a Murky Coffee barista over a triple espresso with ice and ended up becoming Internet famous over the mean and funny blog post he wrote about the experience.

Simmermon said he's not sure yet if he'll repeat the Murky Coffee story for his return to the District of Columbia. "I really don't want this to be the coffee guy comes to town," he told The Huffington Post. "However, if someone calls for it..."

In addition to Simmermon, "And I Am Not Lying" features storyteller Brad Lawrence, burlesque dancer-cum-storyteller Cyndi Freeman (creator of the show "Wonder Woman: A How To Guide For Little Jewish Girls"), and burlesque dancer Runaround Sue.

"There should be nerdy narrative introspection but also tits and fire," Simmermon said of the lineup.

"And I Am Not Lying" is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 8 p.m., at Black Cat Backstage (1811 14th St. NW). Tickets, $12 each, are available here.
