Jhonathan Florez Soars 13,000 Feet Over Bogota, Colombia (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)

It wasn't a plane or superman in the Colombian sky on Thursday, it was Birdman!

World wingsuit champion and record breaking “Hombre Pájaro,” Jhonathan Florez, performed an exhibition jump from a helicopter more than 13,000 feet above sea level last week, according to Colombian daily El Tiempo.

Accompanied by his cameraman, Florez soared over the city’s iconic Monserrate mountain to execute the feat just weeks after winning the World Wingsuit Championship in China on Oct. 13. The stunt was the first of its kind done by the Colombian athlete in his native country and was witnessed by dozens from the Monserrate monastery located at the peak of the mountain.

“[I] was very excited to show this to Colombia,” Florez told El Tiempo.

In the past, the Colombian athlete has flown over Peru’s Nazca Lines and China’s Great Wall among other famous sites.

In April 2012, Florez shattered four world records with just one jump over Colombia’s La Guajira. The athlete reached speeds over 100 miles per hour after he leapt off a plane at 37, 265 feet with a specialized wingsuit.

"When you are up there it really feels like you are flying," Florez told The Telegraph last year. "It was great to break so many records in just one attempt."
