Jim Boeheim Criticizes Media After Syracuse's Win Over West Virginia (VIDEO)

College Basketball Coach Lashes Out At Media

After Syracuse beat West Virginia 63-52 on Monday night, coach Jim Boeheim called out the media, including two local reporters, on what he feels is unfair coverage of him and his team.

Boeheim talked about how fans and the media need to "keep things in perspective" and then turned his attention to the coverage of Syracuse's loss to Louisville on Saturday.

"One of his teams (at Providence) went to the Final Four, and we beat him three times," Boeheim said in reference to a recent story about his record against coach Rick Pitino. "Now we're going to all of a sudden put in the paper that I lost to Rick Pitino six straight? Why don't you put in that I beat him six straight. Go ahead. That's really good. Why don't you keep doing that? That's really good. I appreciate that."

He went on to say that it's personal "when people write and say things about me."

Boeheim also told reporters to not judge an entire season on a "little segment like this."

Before Syracuse's win on Monday, they had lost six of their last eight games.

"When you start judging people on a little segment I think you are on poor journalistic grounds," he said. "You write, what, a 100 articles a year for the paper? 150. 200. Someone looks at six or seven of them and says, this is bad. Is that a good judgment of your career? No. I don't think so."
