Councilmember Jim Graham Tests Cupcakes For Valentine's Day

Jim Graham Excited By Cupcakes

WASHINGTON -- When it comes to cupcakes in the nation's capital, navigating one's way through the seemingly endless parade of options is a tall order.

Never fear: District of Columbia Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) -- who has been facing a lot of heat from The Washington Post editorial page recently -- is here to help.

Brightest Young Things enlisted the bow-tied politician for a city-wide taste test of several well-loved cupcake haunts in honor of Valentine's Day.

On the menu were selections from Baked and Wired, Sticky Fingers Bakery, Red Velvet, Hello Cupcake and Sprinkles.

Graham had nary a bad word to say about any of them, and his enthusiasm (and appetite) is hilariously evident in a series of animated GIFs.

In addition to some serious cupcake eye candy, the piece also details each place's V-Day specials and several cupcake giveaways.

This isn't the first time Graham's culinary preferences have been profiled. Last May, Washington City Paper reported that Georgia Avenue restaurant Ma-Ma's Southern Cuisine had named a plate "The Jim Graham," a tribute to the politician's favorite dish, fresh salmon. Ma-Ma's version is sauteed and served with onions, peppers and a choice of sides.
