Jody Shelley Hits Darryl Boyce: Flyers Player Ejected From Preseason Game Against Maple Leafs (VIDEO)

Flyers Winger Ejected After Dirty Hit In Preseason Game

In the middle of the second period of Philadelphia's preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Flyers winger Jody Shelley got ejected for a dirty hit that drove Toronto's Darryl Boyce face-first into the boards. Jay Rosehill, Boyce's teammate, immediately went after Shelley and a long fight broke out behind the Flyers net with both landing several punches. Shelley, who received five minutes for boarding and five minutes for fighting along with a game misconduct, walked to the locker room bloody and did not comment on the play after the game.

Fortunately, Boyce was able to return in the third period. He addressed the hit after the game:

"I was going in for the puck and just sort of got hit from behind there," Boyce said, per Philadelphia Sports Daily. "It was not a clean hit for sure."

Rosehill said that he doesn't know Shelley as being a dirty player. But as Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy pointed out, Shelley will likely face a suspension at the beginning of the season.
