Joel Przybilla Suspended: Milwaukee Bucks Center Out 1 Game For Throwing Ball At Referee (VIDEO)

WATCH: Did Joel Przybilla Deserve A Suspension For This?

Joel Przybilla has been suspended without pay for one game for throwing a ball that hit a referee during a game on Saturday, the NBA announced in an official release.

Toward the end of the fourth quarter of the Bucks' 111-85 loss to the Clippers, the Milwaukee center fielded the ball after the whistle had blown and appeared to toss it in the general direction of one of the officials, whose back was turned. Przybilla received a technical foul after the ball made contact with the referee.

Fans on Twitter have taken issue with Przybilla's suspension and the league's inconsistency when it comes to player discipline.

The punishment may seem rather harsh to some, given the lack of clear intent by Przybilla and the soft nature of the offense, especially when compared to recent altercations that have resulted in similar suspensions. Just last week, Raptors forward Amir Johnson was suspended one game without pay for a bizarre incident in which he hurled his mouthpiece at an official and had to be restrained by teammates. Similarly, Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins had to sit out one game after he punched O.J. Mayo in the groin.

Przybilla will serve his suspension Tuesday night as the Bucks take on the Pacers in Milwaukee.
