John Cleese To Guest Star On 'Whitney' And More Casting News

'Whitney' Books 'Monty Python' Legend

John Cleese is paying "Whitney" a visit. According to TV Guide, Cleese will make a rare TV guest appearance as Dr. Grant, a therapist Whitney (Whitney Cummings) and Alex (Chris D'Elia) visit.

Look for Dr. Grant to assign the couple some home exercises aimed to help with their communication and intimacy ... and also, create some awkward moments.

Cleese's episode airs in February. "Whitney" moves to Wed., 8 p.m. ET on NBC starting Jan. 11.

In other TV casting news ...

Laurie has a new man on "Cougar Town." Edwin Hodge will guest star as Wade, a new man in uniform who comes into Laurie's life ... with the help of Skype. [TVLine]

"Angel" star Amy Acker will have a guest stint on "Once Upon a Time." Acker will play Grumpy's (Leroy in Storybrooke) love interest and she will appear in both Storybrooke and the fairytale world. [TVLine]

Gary Cole is paying a visit to "Hart Of Dixie."
Cole will play Zoe's (Rachel Bilson) superstar surgeon dad. He may not be her biological dad, but Cole's character raised Zoe. Look for him to appear in at least two episodes. [TVLine]
