John Edwards To Give Speech At Lawyers' Retreat

Former Democratic presidential candidate and U.S. Senator John Edwards (D-N.C.) will return to the public eye next month when he speaks at a retreat for lawyers, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

Edwards, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee, will deliver a 45-minute address on "Historic Trials of the Century" at a private retreat in Orlando, Fla. on June 6. The retreat is for clients of PMP, a marketing firm that specializes in law firms.

According to an itinerary on PMP's website, Edwards will also participate in a question-and-answer session with other speakers.

Last May, Edwards was acquitted on a campaign finance fraud charge involving his 2008 presidential bid. A judge declared a mistrial on an additional five corruption charges after a jury failed to reach an agreement on whether the former candidate improperly used campaign funds to cover-up his extra-marital affair with Rielle Hunter, who gave birth to Edwards' child in 2008.

“I did an awful, awful lot that was wrong,” Edwards said after his acquittal. “I am responsible. I don’t have to go any further than the mirror. It’s me and me alone.”
