Jonathan Baldwin Catch: Chiefs WR's Outstanding Catch Against Broncos Doesn't Count (VIDEO)

WATCH: Chiefs WR Makes Jaw-Dropping Catch That Doesn't Count

Trailing the Denver Broncos by 10 in the final minutes of the first half, Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel wanted to kickstart his offense. After calling for a play-action fake on his own 29-yard line, Cassel launched a deep pass to wide receiver Jonahtan Baldwin. Broncos safety Brian Dawkins had tight coverage on Baldwin as they ran down toward the Broncos' 25. With his back to the ball, Dawkins threw his hands up in the air as he could see Baldwin reaching up to make the catch.

Dawkins' tight coverage and outstretched arms didn't distract the Chiefs' rookie. He reached around Dawkins, caught the ball and pinned it against the back of the former Eagles star as the two fell to the ground. As the tangled players came tumbling down, Baldwin made sure the ball never touch the turf.

Despite his best efforts to raise his arms, Dawkins was still called for pass interference. However, an illegal formation penalty by the Chiefs resulted in a replay of the down, negating what would have been the catch of the year.
