Joplin Tornado: 1 Year Later, How You Can Help

May 22, 2012 marks the one-year anniversary of the tornado that ripped through southern Missouri, changing lives for thousands of people in the densely occupied city of Joplin.

The EF-5 tornado took 161 lives and injured 1,150 other people, the Joplin Globe reported.

One year later, Joplin is still healing and determined to rebuild their destroyed city.

Convoy of Hope
An organization focused on feeding initiatives, disaster response and community outreach, Convoy of Hope volunteers have logged more than 20,000 hours in rebuilding Joplin -- and are still there. To learn more about its efforts in Joplin and to get involved, click here.

Even one year later, the American Red Cross is still working on disaster relief and collecting and doling out supplies to people living in affected areas. Find out more here
