Soccer Coach Charged With Child Porn, Lewd Acts

Jorge Dominguez, a former teacher's aide and soccer coach, has been charged with a dozen felony counts for allegedly committing lewd acts on a child.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office announced the charges ahead of his scheduled arraignment Monday afternoon. In a statement, Deputy District Attorney Jane Creighton with the Sex Crimes Division said that Dominguez was charged with 10 counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14, one count of a lewd act on a child over 14 and possession of child pornography.

The 25-year-old man, who worked as an aide at Gratts Learning Academy and as a sports coach for after school programs at Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, was arrested last Thursday after video of the alleged abuse surfaced.

The tape had been sent to the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday evening, who determined that there was enough evidence to arrest Dominguez the next morning. He was fired from the Los Angeles Unified School District that same day.

The alleged victim met the suspect at the Los Angeles Academy when he was 12 years old, where Dominguez worked as a sports coach. The alleged abuse was said to span three years -- from June 2009 to May 2012.

In reaction to Dominguez's arrest, schools superintendent John Deasy called the allegations "sickening and horrifying." The school district had no knowledge of the allegations against Dominguez until his arrest.

If convicted, Dominguez could face up to 27 years in prison.
