J.R. Smith Draws A Foul By Hitting Defender In The Groin

New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith may have fooled the ref with a low blow on Tuesday night. But the Washington Wizards apparently don't think the NBA will let it slide.

While being guarded closely by Washington's Glen Rice Jr. during the fourth quarter, Smith appeared to use his off-hand to hit him in the groin. Somehow, with an official standing a few feet away, a foul was called on Rice who immediately fell to the ground in pain. The Wizards believe the league will review the play and discipline Smith, CSNwashington.com reported.

It only took four games into the season for Smith to cause some controversy.

UPDATE: Smith was suspended for hitting Rice in the groin.
