Katy Perry Tries A Glittery Cape Gown At A UNICEF Ball: Yay Or Nay? (PHOTOS, POLL)

The singer pulls a Gwyneth -- but with glitter.

Katy Perry is a woman who likes all things shiny. The pop star rocks glitter in dress form, nail-art form and even full-on bodysuit form. So it only makes sense that her take on a Gwyneth Paltrow look would include -- what else? -- glitz.

To attend UNICEF's SnowFlake Ball in New York on Tuesday, the 28-year-old opted for a glittery navy blue cape gown -- an ensemble that immediately brought us back to Gwynnie's caped Tom Ford number from this year's Oscars. Katy even ditched the loose waves she's been rocking in lieu of a sleeker, center-parted hairstyle.

Obviously, this wasn't complete (or even intentional) homage, but we can't help but associate these type of gowns with the woman who made the look a modern style icon. Even Sienna Miller took a pretty literal go at the dress type just last month. Ms. Perry's navy version featured sheer detailing, a belt, drop earrings and a floral pattern -- definitely not the minimalist look of the originator, but we think she looks great, glitter and all.
