Kelly Clarkson Covers Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Kelly Clarkson Covers Eminem

Kelly Clarkson isn't known for her tough, edgy side, but when the "American Idol" alum decided to cover Eminem at a recent Detroit concert, she had the crowd cheering.

On Aug. 10, Clarkson took to the stage at DTE Energy Music Theater in Detroit and treated fans to something unexpected.

"I borrowed my girlfriend Nicole's hoodie for this next song," she told the crowd. "You'll understand in a minute."

The hoodie, of course, was a nod to Detroit native Eminem, otherwise known as Marshall Mathers, whose song "Lose Yourself" was requested by several Clarkson fans. "Lose Yourself" became famous in Mathers' "8 Mile," a film about a young white rapper trying to make in the Detriot hip-hop world. It also won him the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2003.

The 30-year-old singer answered the requests and accepted the challenge.

"Is anyone an Eminem fan?" Clarkson asked the crowed, getting cheers. "I am an Eminem fan as well. I grew up listening to him as well. But the difference is, people, when you listen to him on the radio and sing along in your car, you're a lot more badass than you actually are. Because when you get alone without Eminem doing it with you, it's not as good."

The Texas native sang more than she rapped during "Lose Yourself," but she still managed to please the crowd.

Clarkson is currently on the road with The Fray for a summer tour, according to Entertainment Weekly. Throughout the past three weeks she has been covering popular radio hits, including “Wide Awake” by Katy Perry, “We Are Young” by Fun., and “Not Over You” by Gavin DeGraw.

In addition, Clarkson has a lot to be happy about these days, including her relationship with Brandon Blackstock, son of her manager, Narvel Blackstock, and stepson of Reba McEntire.

"I think as you get old though, too, you just get less worried about the little stuff that doesn't matter and you focus more on the bigger picture," she told People magazine. "And, you know, I'm also in love."
