No one "forced" Ke$ha to sing "Die Young" after all.

On Tuedsay, following reports that the song had been yanked from radio rotation in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shootings, the 25-year-old responded with a public apology.

The pop star first claimed she was "forced" to sing the song in a tweet that she quickly deleted. She followed up that tweet with another apology, explaining that she realized the "song is now inappropriate."

As it turns out, no one forced her to write it or sing it at all. On Thursday, the singer posted a message on her website, backtracking on claims she was forced to sing"Die Young":

After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase "die young" in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.

Ke$ha's initial claim she was made to sing the song had many confused since she's listed as a songwriter on the track. Ke$ha has given multiple interview where she boasts about how much of herself is conveyed on the album.

Recently, the singer point blank told The Huffington Post, "I write my own music," later adding:

"I write about my life in my music and I have very little filter so basically it would be impossible for me to separate my music and the rest of my life. My music is a representation of my life and vice-versa."
