Kristin Cavallari's Missing Brother Found Dead

The 30-year-old had been missing since Nov. 27.

Michael Cavallari, the brother of former reality star Kristin Cavallari, was found dead on Thursday, nearly two weeks after he went missing. He was 30 years old.

The former "The Hills" star confirmed her older brother's death in a statement to People magazine:

We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.

The Grand County Sheriff's Office also confirmed his death in a press release:

At approximately 10:30 a.m. search crews located remains believed to be that of Michael Cavallari. At this time, the body is being transported to the Office of the Utah Medical Examiner for positive identification and to determine the cause of death.

On Monday, it was reported that Michael had been missing since Nov. 27, when his car was found abandoned along Interstate 70 in Utah. Police told Deseret News that his laptop and cell phone were found in his car and that his credit card was last used at a convenience store about 100 miles from where his car was found. Sheriff Steven White of the Grand County Sheriff's Office told the "Today" show there were "no signs of foul play" and were "still piecing everything together."

According to CBS News, authorities were examining any connections between his disappearance and his recent arrest for allegedly threatening a woman with a gun.

His cause of death has not been released at this time.

UPDATE: Kristin Cavallari later captioned a photo of herself and her brother as children with an emotional message. "My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP," she wrote.
