Former Duke Stars Join Cameron Crazies

We've seen plenty of NBA stars keep busy during the long NBA lockout. Deron Williams is playing ball overseas. Kevin Durant and others have played in several summer league and charity games. The Thunder star recently got bored and decided to play some flag football with some Oklahoma State students. But what are some of the rookies up to as their what would be rookie years continue to get delayed?

With the start to the college basketball season rapidly approaching, Kyrie Irving, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, and former Duke teammate Nolan Smith decided to go back to school and do something they were never able to do in college: actually join the Cameron Crazies.

During Duke's exhibition victory over Division II Bellarmine, Irving and Smith, along with former teammate Lance Thomas, sat in the student section participated in the Blue Devils traditions.

"It was cool. I enjoy myself I knew all the songs and the dances and stuff like that," Irving said.

"That was my first time actually being a part of it, so I had to learn on the fly," said Smith, the 21st overall pick in the draft. "But I think we did a great job and I was proud of our performance."
