Woman Found Dead In Van 'Riddled With Bullets' On Lake Shore Drive

A 32-year-old Chicago woman was found slumped over the steering wheel of a bullet-riddled van after she'd been fatally shot while driving on Lake Shore Drive near the Stevenson Expressway onramp.

The shooting took place around 4:20 a.m. Friday, according to Illinois State Police, who found the van, which had been struck by between 10 and 14 bullets, crashed into the median in the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive, NBC Chicago reports.

The driver was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A 37-year-old female passenger was not wounded in the shooting and is now being questioned by police, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Police are calling the shooting an isolated incident, according to Fox Chicago. Sources told ABC Chicago that the shooting may be drug- and gang-related.
