Larimer County GOP Chairman Resigns Amid Oversight That Could Result In Largest Campaign Finance Fine In State History

Larimer GOP Chairman Resigns Facing Largest Campaign Finance Fine In Colo. History

The Larimer County Republican Party failed to file any of its required campaign finance disclosures in 2010, putting it at risk of the biggest campaign fine in Colorado history and leading to the resignation of Chairman Larry Carillo.

The Larimer party organization finds itself in a shambles as a result of a comedy of errors that included filing paperwork that accidentally cloned the organization, doubling the fine it was subject to. The paperwork that would have tipped the Larimer GOP to its mistake apparently sat uncollected for months at a Fort Collins post office box, along with mounting notices of fines for delinquent campaign finance filings.
