Larry Dollins, Texas Man, Arrested For Stabbing Dog 11 Times (VIDEO)

Dog Survives Being Stabbed 11 Times By Owner

Larry Dollins, a 42-year-old from Abilene, Texas, is in custody after stabbing his 14-month-old puppy Taz eleven times before leaving her in a dumpster, KTXS TV reports.

Miraculously, the pup survived and is eating and drinking for the first time since Sunday's attack, according to a separate report from the station.

Authorities reportedly had to force their way in to Dollins' home to arrest him on charges of animal cruelty, a charge punishable by between 180 days and two years in jail plus a $10,000 fine.

Cheryl Ascol, a neighbor who called police after seeing the attack, described the shocking scene to KTXS.

"I said 'Larry, please stop stabbing that dog,'" Ascol told the station. "I thought the dog was dead because by that time he was just hanging there."

Dollins' neighbor Robert Thompson also spoke with KTXS, saying he had noticed a "strange" change in his neighbor's behavior.

"I actually saw a change in this guy," he told the station. "If it wasn't the dog it would have been a kid or someone else."

According to the Abilene Reporter-News, the clinic caring for Taz has received many calls from people inquiring about the dog's health and there is already an adoption waiting list.

Taz's remarkable survival comes after an Alabama "miracle dog" survived a pound's gas chamber last month. Since then, the adorable pup has found a new home with a family in New Jersey.
