'Last Resort' Premiere: Chaplin Takes A Stand Against The US

One of the most ambitious stories to make its way to broadcast television this season, "Last Resort" certainly got the notice of the critics. Zap2It calls it one of the best shows of the fall, while TV.com wrote, "The biggest compliment any pilot can get is a burning desire to tune in for Episode 2, and that’s what we have here."

Everything started going wrong for the U.S.S. Colorado, a military submarine, when they received an order to nuke Pakistan. It didn't come through normal channels, though it was somewhat mysteriously confirmed. But when they tried to have it approved through the usual channels, the Colorado was fired upon by U.S. missiles.

From there, Andre Braugher's Captain Chaplin took matters into his own hand. They found a nearby island and he essentially declared he was taking over -- the nuclear sub parked in the harbor was the power he needed to do so. He also went on air with the story of what happened, and made it absolutely clear that no one is to mess with him or the island he has commandeered.

Tension will thus come from the locals, some of whom aren't too thrilled about their new visitors, as well as whatever is happening in the United States that set off this series of events in the first place.
