World's Most Expensive Camera Sold!

This past weekend at an auction the BBC reported that an 89-year-old Leica camera recently sold to an anonymous bidder for the princely sum of 2.16m euros (nearly $3,000,000). This camera is one of 12 surviving models of the legendary 0-Series, and was originally made in 1923 as an early prototype for the compact and durable Leica A.

The bidding took place at the Galerie Westlicht in Vienna, Austria, and the starting price was 300,000 euros ($386,000), and quickly rose as the bidding war began, Reuters reports. Prior to this, the record for the world's most expensive camera was for 1.32m euros ($1.7m).
