Lindsay Lohan distanced herself from the Vanity Fair expose which alleges that the Church of Scientology auditioned women to be Tom Cruise's wife in 2004. The piece names the woman who was approached to "audition" to be Cruise's partner as Iranian actress Nazanin Boniadi, but Scarlett Johansson and Lohan were also reportedly involved.
Lohan responded to Vanity Fair's expose written by Maureen Orth, tweeting that she had no involvement in the story whatsoever.
Lohan allegedly met with Cruise prior to his meeting Katie Holmes, whom he would marry in 2006. “Lindsay met with Tom before he met Katie,” a source told HuffPost's Naughty But Nice Rob. “At first, she was super excited to work with Tom and thought it was about a role in 'Mission Impossible.' It soon became clear that he wasn’t looking for an actress but something very different.”
Lohan's rep blasted the story to RumorFix saying, “It’s all so absurd."
Her father, Michael, also denied the wife-auditioning claims when speaking with HuffPost. Michael said he knows nothing of his daughter meeting with Cruise, adding, “Tom has never called me to ask for her hand in marriage."
Fox News named Lohan in a rumored Cruise wife-auditioning scandal back in 2005: "We know that Cruise auditioned several actresses for this role before settling on Holmes. This column reported a story about Jennifer Garner. There have been published stories about Kate Bosworth, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba being approached."
Orth's piece for Vanity Fair's October issue makes other shocking revelations about the actor's past loves, including Kdiman's mistreatment by the Church of Scientology, Penelope Cruz's having been dubbed a "dilettante" and the dismissal of any woman who admitted to having had a threesome, E! News reported.
Kidman, who was married to the actor from 1990 to 2001, and Cruz, who dated the actor from 2001 to 2004, were apparently not aligned with the path of Scientology.
Boniadi was then allegedly eventually selected to date Cruise after she underwent a month-long auditing process and adapted to changing various aspects of herself, according to Vanity Fair.
In a month-long preparation in October 2004, she was audited every day, a process in which she told a high-ranking Scientology official her innermost secrets and every detail of her sex life. Boniadi allegedly was told to lose her braces, her red highlights, and her boyfriend. According to a knowledgeable source, she was shown confidential auditing files of her boyfriend to expedite a breakup.
The actress, who dated the "Mission Impossible" actor from November 2004 to January 2005, didn't make the cut. Boniadi was sent off to a Scientology center and reportedly broke her confidentiality agreement by telling a friend about her relationship with Cruise. As punishment, Scientology forced her to “scrubbing toilets with a toothbrush, cleaning tiles with acid and digging ditches in the middle of the night.” She is no longer a Scientologist and has not addressed Vanity Fair's story, ABC News reported.
Cruise's camp, along with the Church of Scientology, has denied the allegations.
A rep for the Church of Scientology called the entire story "hogwash," when speaking with Us Weekly. His lawyer Bert Fields told the Hollywood Reporter that it is entirely false, saying, "Vanity Fair’s story is essentially a rehash of tired old lies previously run in the supermarket tabloids, quoting the same bogus 'sources.' It’s long, boring and false.”
