A new poll released Friday has yet more bad news for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn's reelection hopes.

In the latest poll of Illinois voters conducted by Crain's/Ipsos Illinois, Quinn is trailing Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan among respondents identifying as Democrats or independents by a margin of 15 percent to 30 percent in a hypothetical-for-now Democratic primary showdown.

In somewhat happier news for Quinn, 39 percent of respondents said they were still undecided in the race, but he has been consistently polling behind Madigan in recent months. In a Paul Simon Public Policy Institute poll in February, Madigan led Quinn 31.9 percent to 22.9 percent. In a Public Policy Polling poll where the two were the only options last November, Madigan led Quinn by a whopping 64 percent to 20 percent.

Madigan has yet to formally announce that she will run for governor in the looming 2014 race -- and claims to have not made a decision yet -- but a recent check of she and Quinn's campaign coffers also tipped in the favor of the daughter of the state's long-time House Speaker. According to the Associated Press, Madigan has $4.1 million in the bank as of April 1, while Quinn's coffers boast just $1.5 million.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, state Treasurer Dan Rutherford and 2010 gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Bill Brady tied at 12 percent support in the Crain's/Ipsos poll, beating out businessman Bruce Rauner, who has been raking in big time campaign funds this year.
