Liz Murray Releases Book Chronicling 'Homeless To Harvard' Odyssey

As a child, Liz Murray and her siblings were neglected by drug addicted, HIV positive parents. By the age of 15, Murray ventured out on her own, living on the streets of New York City.

Despite her struggles, Murray dedicated herself to staying in school and earning her high school degree. The budding young writer penned an essay that won her a New York Times Scholarship -- to Harvard University.

Her journey was chronicled in the 2003 T.V. movie "Homeless To Harvard: The Liz Murray Story" with actress Thora Birch in the title role.

Now, Murray is telling her story in her own words in her new book, "Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard."

Murray was interviewed on NPR's Talk Of The Nation.
