Ed's Lobster Bar is an escape from New York City in the heart of SoHo, NYC. With a gorgeous marble 35 seat bar, this restaurant is great to dine at alone, with a friend, or on a date. The menu fits the bill for casual to celebratory. Love a restaurant that feels casual and sophisticated at the same time.

Chef and owner Ed will say that the market price lobster roll is the most popular item on the menu - jam-packed lobster lightly dressed in mayo, with chives and celery - nestled in a buttered roll, alongside delish housemade pickles and sea salt french fries. But, there are also other must-have dishes. The full steamed lobster never disappoints, and is fun and messy to chow down on. The Wednesday night lobster meatball is an awesome take on the meatball. It's rich and light, and fun all at once. The tuna tartare to start is a plentiful dish and comes with zucchini fries - and this is where we see the Italian in Ed shine in his seafood resto. Ed's favorite dish on the menu is the lobster ravioli -- it comes in a flavorful mushroom sherry sauce -- and is worth splitting if pasta is your thing.

Sides include specials like kale, or classics like spinach, coleslaw, and plentiful fresh salads. You can eat light, rich or heavy here.

For drinks, make sure to order the blueberry gin gimlet cocktail to start. Not sweet, and surprisingly strong, and refreshing. Then, flow into some nice sparkling or wines to pair with the seafood.

Dessert included an ice cream sandwich in a hot dog bun as well as a fresh, seasonal apple pie (with apples hand-picked by Ed himself from Wright Farms, no big deal). Perfectly seasoned apples with a touch of cinnamon and butter, in a pretty lattice house-made crust. Served alongside vanilla bean gelato from local Laboratoria del Gelato.

I will be back! Great deal for really great quality, fresh seafood. Staff was friendly, casual and attentive. Hint: they have a great happy hour menu too. Thanks so much Ed.
