Strangers In a Strange Land: Opening Lecture With Homi Bhaba

This lecture event by humanities professor Homi Bhaba kicks off the two day symposium Strangers in a Strange Land: Art, Aesthetics and Displacement. Organized by UCLA faculty Saloni Mathur and Aamir Mufti, the symposium is held in conjunction with the exhibition Zarina: Paper Like Skin. It brings together world-renowned scholars in the humanities to consider questions of dispossession, displacement, and the exilic imagination in modern art and aesthetic thinking.

Opening night of interior-design showcase event THR Design Hollywood, which includes 14 spaces designed by top Los Angeles interior designers including Waldo Fernandez, Marmol Radziner, Kathryn Ireland, Natasha Baradaran and Adam Bram Straus, and Tim Clarke. Proceeds benefit the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $40 and available online. On view Fridays and weekends through November 18, 2012.

A five-day event bringing comic book enthusiasts and artists together to co-produce and collaborate on comics and doodles on the walls of ForYourArt. At the end of the project, the pages created by visitors and artists throughout the event, will be turned into printed comic books/zines.
