Los Angeles Library: Your Library After Hours

Will Rock Bands, Food Trucks & Booze Make The Library Cool Again?

Via The Beat Of Young Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Central Library in Downtown LA kicks off the first event in a series called "This Is Your Library..." tomorrow evening. The series, which The Beat calls an attempt to "make the library cool again" (was it ever?) is an effort to give the library an "after-hours" life with a "late-night talk show" feel. That means food trucks, a bar, and live music--as well as speaking guests who will discuss what they do (and how they do it) in Los Angeles.

Tomorrow's guests include LA Weekly's Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold, Keith Morris of the bands Black Flag and Circle Jerks, Christian Lander of Stuff White People Like fame, Latin Grammy nominated singer Ceci Bastida, and up-and-coming local band Holloys. Sounds like a lively mismatch, which is Los Angeles in a nutshell. Luckily city librarian Martín Gómez (he oversees the entire Los Angeles Public Library) will be there to pull it all together.

This Is Your Library...
When: Thursday, December 9 (Doors open at 7:30pm)
Where: Los Angeles Central Library's Mark Taper Auditorium, 630 W. Fifth Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071
