Macaulay Culkin Depressed: Source Claims Actor Is 'Sad And Lonely'

Macaulay Culkin 'Sad And Lonely'

Macaulay Culkin reportedly isn't doing so well these days.

A month after the National Enquirer claimed the former child star is addicted to heroin and flirting at death's doorstep, comes claims that the actor is depressed and has regressed to childhood tendencies.

An insider close to the former "Home Alone" star told RadarOnline that Culkin has been attempting to relive his childhood and has been engaging in strange behavior such as hosting costume parties where guests are invited to come dressed as a movie character or dinosaur. "He likes to live as a child. Growing up has not been good to Macaulay," explained the source.

In addition to his odd behavior, a former colleague says Culkin is a "sad and lonely figure," and attributes his depression to his inability to land roles. The actor hasn't been involved with a project since 2010, though he's reportedly eager to get back in the game.

Reps for Culkin denied the Enquirer's claims and called the story "ridiculously fictitious." The tabloid responded by sticking to their report and encouraged the 32-year-old actor to seek help for his problems. In February, his reps also denied allegations that the actor was gravely ill after photos of an extremely gaunt-looking Culkin emerged.

Today, the actor looks much healthier and allegations that he's depressed and lonely appear to be discredited by the fact that he's been hard at work making his own art.

E! News reports that Culkin has been working on a number of paintings, which he'll be exhibiting this week. Culkin and friends Adam Green and Toby Goodshank formed an art collective called "Three Men and a Baby" and have been using his New York apartment as a studio. They will be holding their first show, "Leisure Inferno," at Le Poisson Rouge on Sept. 13. Check out the video below for a preview of their art:
