Madonna's 55th Birthday: A Look Back At The Material Girl's Most Legendary Performances

Happy 55th Birthday, Madonna!

It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since she first shook, shimmied and grooved her way into our hearts with smash songs like "Lucky Star" and "Borderline." Today, Madonna hits another personal milestone: her 55th birthday.

After 2012's Super Bowl and "MDNA" album and tour onslaught, the Queen of Pop has been uncharacteristically quiet as of late. Still, she turned heads in a Cub Scout uniform while presenting Anderson Cooper with the Vito Russo Award at the GLAAD Awards in March, made a jaw-dropping entrance in punked-out Givenchy at the Met Gala in May and paid homage to Marlene Dietrich at the June premiere of her MDNA concert film.

It's safe to say the Material Girl won't be slowing down anytime soon. She's been dropping hints about a much-anticipated "Secret Project" on Instagram and other social media outlets, and is also rumored to be in talks with Giorgio Moroder, the legendary disco producer who recently collaborated with Daft Punk, for a forthcoming album -- not surprising for a woman which Billboard magazine recently named the top solo act in their Hot 100 history.

To celebrate Madonna's birthday, take a look at our picks for her most legendary performances below:
