Male Fertility And Aging

Are Men Less Fertile As They Age?

For women, menopause serves as an often-unwanted reminder that their level of fertility is significantly dropping in midlife.

But how does aging affect the fertility of menopause-free males?

That is precisely the question a young woman recently asked on “The Doctors.” The woman inquired, “does sperm age?”

“There’s growing evidence that men do have a biological clock too -- it doesn’t drop off as drastically,” answered Laura Berman, Ph.D., a sex and relationship expert. “The motility and how active the little sperms are, how quickly they swim, how many there are, and how healthy the sperm are all starts to decline as men age as well.”
