Managing Men: When They Want To Get Personal

Managing Men: When They Want To Get Personal

On a Thursday afternoon, I suddenly heard every female on our office start giggling. They shared secret knowing looks and smirked my way. As I tried to figure out what on earth was going on, another employee approached me. It was someone from a different department who I didn’t have much contact with on a day-to-day basis. It was a guy. And he was holding tickets in his hand. After a short conversation, I realized that they were tickets to a rodeo and this guy was asking me out. To a rodeo.

I’m sorry to say that it didn’t work out with me and the cowboy. I blushed and said that I couldn’t make it. Later, I started dating another employee and things got a little awkward, but that happens. The first man to hit on me at my company didn’t get rude or offended when I turned him down. He presumably found another taker for those rodeo tickets and had himself a grand ol’ time. The next week at work, we went back to normal. Though the girls who knew what was going to happen and never warned me, were about to get an earful.
