Mark Bosworth Missing: Search Continues For Cycle Oregon Volunteer

Dozens Search For Missing Cyclist Who Mysteriously Disappeared

Dozens convened in southern Oregon Tuesday morning to join the effort to locate a missing bike tour volunteer who mysteriously vanished during a camping trip last weekend.

Mark Bosworth, 54, disappeared from his Cycle Oregon campsite in Riddle, Ore., either late Friday or early Saturday. Fellow cyclists reported him missing Saturday morning after discovering his tent was empty, and the search has been going on in full force ever since.

Cycle Oregon officials said he was known as someone who showed up early, stayed late and was alway ready to pitch in during the weeklong event. But by Friday, friends said, it was clear he was not himself, noting that he appeared somewhat confused and, at times, incoherent.

The search for Bosworth has drawn volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, some who have known the "effervescent" cyclist since the 1970s. "He's one of the most wonderful people I know," longtime friend Grace Marian, who took time off to join the search efforts, told the Oregonian.

Bosworth is described as six feet tall, 180 pounds, with thinning gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray Cycle Oregon sweatshirt and a yellow Oregon Cycling hat.

Cycle Oregon has posted pictures and a call for help on their Facebook page. Meanwhile, officials have circulated a missing person flier, and anyone with any information as to Bosworth's potential whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at (541) 440-447.
