Mark Cefalo, Jr. Offers Advice On Dealing With Parent's Divorce In YouTube Video

WATCH: What Teens Really Think About Divorce

Dealing with your parent's divorce as a teen is never easy, but it helps to know you're not alone.

In the video above, 16-year-old YouTube star Mark Cefalo Jr.offers teens a primer on what it's like when parents divorce. Cefalo, who says his parents split when he was 13, addresses everything from shared custody to money problems to the awkwardness that comes when a parent starts dating someone new.

"You have to go off and introduce yourself to a complete stranger and let them fit into your life practically. I couldn't do that at first, I was just like, "Hell no, no! I don't want you in my life," Cefalo says in the video.

But the teen ultimately concedes that having your parents date other people may be for the best: "Yes, it's hard at first to accept your your mom being with a new guy or vice versa," he says. "But then again, it could turn out that the person that your mom or dad is with is actually really nice and everything works out great."

Cefalo's honesty about parent's splits reminds us of a number of teen stars who've opened up about divorce, including Selena Gomez, who admitted last June that she blamed her mom when her parent's marriage fell apart. And in 2010, Gomez's boyfriend, Justin Bieber, reportedly told fans it's important to know that kids are not the cause of their parents' splits.
