Marriage Proposal Video: Cystic Fibrosis Patient Kevin Dwyer Proposes To Girlfriend At NYC Marathon (VIDEO)

WATCH: Man With Life-Threatening Disease Proposes After Running NYC Marathon

Sunday was a big day for New York City Marathon runner and cystic fibrosis patient Kevin Dwyer -- not only did he finish a grueling 26-mile race, he also proposed to his girlfriend.

In this video of the proposal, Dwyer gets down on one knee at the finish line, popping the question to his girlfriend, Katie Kolb. She screams "Yes!"

Since the spring, Dwyer has been training with Kolb for the New York City Marathon. Out of the 47,000 runners who participate in the race every year, Dwyer is one of few with cystic fibrosis -- a life-threatening chronic disease that clogs lungs with a buildup of thickened mucus.

There is no cure for the disease, which affects more than 30,000 Americans. Despite the fact that the life expectancy of CF patients is about 37 years old, the couple has stayed positive: "I just kind of hold onto the idea that miracles happen daily," said Kolb. "You never know what life is going to throw at you."

And about the proposal? "I just would have no other way," said the newly-engaged bride. "I would be with no other man."
