Martha Stewart Weddings: 10th Annual Bridal Market Party In New York

Carnations Are Cool Again And Other Revelations From Martha Stewart's Bridal Fashion Week Fete

It was a fitting finale to this year's whirlwind bridal fashion week: on Monday night, Martha Stewart Weddings threw its 10th Annual Bridal Market Party, welcoming hundreds of revelers into its industrial-chic headquarters at the landmark Starrett-Lehigh Building on Manhattan's West Side for a night that can only be described as The Best Wedding You've Never Been To.

The industry-only fete included guests like celebrity event planners Colin Cowie, Matthew Robbins (also a HuffPost Weddings blogger!), bridal designers Reem Acra and Angel Sanchez, Randy Fenoli from "Say Yes to the Dress," Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings, and of course, the woman of the hour herself.

We gleaned a lot from this impressive lineup of talent--including the revelation that carnations are cool again, or never really went away, depending on how you look at it ("I think because they're inexpensive, people always just saw them as the cop-out flower," Kimmy Crosby, a delightful rep from Matthew Robbins Design told us. "But carnations done in the right way can always be beautiful and unique.") We also learned that there are "major players in sugar flowers," which is how Sugar Flower Cake Shop owner Amy DeGiulio was described to us.

Guests munched on "hors d'oeuvres"--all mini incarnations of foods like tacos, pretzels, and sushi (yep, apparently sushi can be even mini-er than it already is)--by Peter Callahan , and availed themselves of treats from over a dozen Martha-approved vendors, including eCreamery (custom ice creams!) PicFlips (cool flipbooks!) and Just Married Wines (made-to-order wines!)
