How Mary-Louise Parker Combats Feeling 'Unsuccessful'

It's hard to believe that the gorgeous Emmy-award winning actress Mary-Louise Parker would ever feel inadequate. But it happens, she told HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps in an interview on Thursday.

"I was feeling unsuccessful in certain areas, like this campaign," she said, referring to her work with Hope North, which helps Ugandan child soldiers. "I really want to raise money for these kids, and, you know, we're always hard on ourselves."

So how does the actress overcome these feelings of defeat? By writing out a list of what she is succeeding in, she said.

"I was able to come up with a lot more than I thought [I would]," Parker said. "Little things, just like, I had a great dinner with my kids last night, they ate really good food, we sat there for a really long time and talked, my son went after his homework really well, and, you know, my daughter was in a great mood. That was a successful evening."

Parker admits that this approach took time to reach.

"I'm 49, so it's like, I see my world in a different lens now," she said.
