'McBurned' Ad Campaign By Carl's Jr., Hardee's Targets Angry McDonald's Customers

Carl's Jr. & Hardee's Hoping To Gain Customers Feeling 'McBurned'

In May, McDonald's ditched the Angus Third Pounder. While some loyal customers were upset, CKE Restaurants (the parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's) saw an opportunity. CEO Andy Puzder has taken to YouTube to reply to social media users disgruntled by the McDonald's move. Puzder is offering coupons as well -- Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, you see, still does have an Angus beef burger on their menus.

CKE also took out a full page ad in USA Today:

The ad states that for a limited time, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's will offer their Angus beef burger at a discount. Customers can also find coupons at ReclaimYourAngus.com.

Does this aggressive campaign reek of desperation? Maybe slightly. But given how big of a leader McDonald's is in the fast food marketplace, we can't really blame another company for hoping for a bigger piece of the pie.
