A Shortage Of Mesclun Salad Mix Might Be On The Horizon

We might usually get what we want, but sometimes mother nature has something to say about it.

Bad news, salad lovers ― there might be a shortage of mesclun mix on the horizon. Most of our wintertime leafy greens are grown in the fields of Arizona, and this is normally a pretty reliable system. But this season has been uncharacteristically damp, and mildew has forced farmers to pull and toss greens.

Normally, we can get lettuce from California ― which kicks up production right about now ― to make up for a shortage of Arizona greens, but the same wet weather has delayed planting in California.

What does this mean for you? You may soon see a shortage of your favorite salad mix ― it should last for about two weeks.

What should you do about it? Reconsider the kale salad. This hearty green will still be around.

We’ve got some kale salads to get you started.
