The movie sweeping Miami's independent theaters this week is "Trishna," a modern take on Thomas Hardy's "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" but set a continent away in India. Freida Pinto of "Slumdog Millionaire" fame plays a poor woman working at a resort who falls in love with the resort owner's son.

Another big-name film to see this week is "Take This Waltz," starring A-listers Michelle Williams and Seth Rogan. The happy couple's marriage comes into question when Williams falls in love with another man.

Finally, for those not into love and mush, the sci-fi-meets-fantasy flick "Beyond the Black Rainbow" will be a feast for the senses. The creepy movie is filled with synthesizers and bright lights as a young girl tries to escape from a commune called Arboria.
