Michael C. Hall On Emmy Losing Streak: 'I'm The Susan Lucci Of Pay Cable'

Michael C. Hall has been nominated six times for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for "Dexter," but he's yet to come away with a win. It's a winless streak that's even longer than "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm's, who's been nominated five times in the same category without taking home a statue.

Fortunately, Hall doesn't seem too bent out of shape about it. On G4 TV's "Attack Of The Show," he jokingly compared himself to Susan Lucci, the former "All My Children" actress who was nominated nineteen times for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series before finally winning a Daytime Emmy in 1999.

Reflecting on his repeated losses in an interview with his Showtime colleague and "Attack Of The Show" host Ben Schwartz, Hall quipped, "I'm the Susan Lucci of pay cable."

Hall also previewed the new season of "Dexter": "Well, I think the show is always at its best when Dexter is in trouble, and this season he's in deep doo-doo ... With Deb finding out Dexter's secret ... it's a game-changer in a way that few things can be at this point in a television show. It really re-invigorates it," he said.

"Dexter" Season 7 premieres Sunday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
