For Mitt Romney's VP, 'I'm Partial' To Rob Portman, Says John Boehner

John Boehner: 'I'm Partial' To Rob Portman For VP

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) wants Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) to be the next vice president.

"I'm partial to Rob Portman,” Boehner said Thursday night in an interview with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren.

"I've been a long-time friend. He's a United States senator from Ohio, served as director of Office of Management and Budget under George W. Bush. Also served as the U.S. Trade Rep. Served in the House of Representatives as well. Knows his way around Washington," Boehner said. "I think he'd be a great asset for Governor Romney."

Boehner's plug for Portman marks the first time he's thrown his support behind anyone on Romney's short list for vice president. Other names on the list include Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
